McLean Prom 2021 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Can I bring a date or go with a group of people? Of course you can bring a date, however, your date will have to sign up separately during the same time slot. This also applies to prom groups. You need to coordinate with your date/group to sign up for the same time to attend. The reason for this is that a student ID number is required during the sign-up process for each person in attendance.
What if my date is a junior? If your date is a junior at McLean, that student must register to attend prom after May 5. At that time, McLean will open up time slots for juniors (if available).
Can I bring a guest from another school? Unfortunately, you cannot bring a guest from another school. Due to restrictions based on the Governor’s latest Executive Order, capacity for the event is limited to the number of slots listed on the SignUpGenius. With 575 seniors at McLean High School, those spots are available to them first. After May 5, we will open up registration to our juniors, who typically attend prom. Based on the numbers and availability of space, guests are not permitted.
Health & Safety
What food or drinks will be provided during the dance? Drinks will be provided during the dance, but no food per the Governor’s Executive Order. We will have pre-packaged desserts available for students as they exit the dance.
It’s outside. Do I have to wear a mask? Yes, masks must be worn during prom. Despite the change in CDC guidelines, FCPS is still requiring students to wear masks at events.
Do I have to come to the building to pick up my tickets? Yes. You will have to make arrangements to come to the building to pick up prom tickets in person from Ms. Bruins in the main office. When tickets are available, a message will be sent out to students via Google Classroom.
Where should I park? Students may park in numbered spaces along the Westmoreland Entrance of the school or the J Lot if they wish to enter the building via Door 9. Parking is also available in the front of the school by the Davidson/Sea Cliff Road entrances. The parking lot will be closed from the stop sign by Sea Cliff down to the gravel lot for the dance. All students must enter the building to access the dance through the library. Students will exit directly from the outside back to their cars.
