Girls Basketball Wins Liberty District

Congratulations to the Girls Basketball on defeating South Lakes HS 45-40 and winning the Liberty District Championship. It was the program's first title since 1977. The team improved to 18-6 on the season on avenged two earlier loses to the Seahawks. Leading the way for the Highlanders was Natalie Hedrick with 14 points and eight rebounds. Elly Glenn added 11 points while  Liberty District Player of the Year Elizabeth Dufrane chipped in with nine. With the win, the team earned a bye in the first round of the Region 6D tournament and will host Chantilly High School on February 22 (7 p.m.). The game will be held at McLean HS.
