McLean High School Material Return - Underclassmen (Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors)

Earlier this year, we distributed materials (textbooks, workbooks, materials, etc.) to our student body. As we end the year, it is necessary for us to collect materials we’ve distributed for the next school year in addition to all school-issued laptops and chargers. Below is our material return plan for our underclassmen. Students who do not return materials assigned to them will be placed on our obligations list. 

Although we did not require students to return their laptops last summer due to the pandemic, this year all students will be required to turn in their computers for servicing before summer vacation. Students who picked up items this fall and received a red McLean bag with a piece of paper stapled to the bag listing the items in the bag should return their materials in the same bag with the paper stapled to it. If you do not have your bag, please place all items in a bag and place a piece of paper on the outside with the list of items contained in the bag. It will take longer to return items without the original bag, but a list on the outside will help speed up the return process.

If you received items that were paid for by course fees, you do not need to return those items. Those items can include materials from Fine Arts, CTE, and Health & PE (Fitness bands, etc.).  Additionally, for World Language courses, any workbook that you write in is yours to keep and does not need to be returned. World Language textbooks must be returned.

Underclassmen (Classes of 2022, 2023, and 2024) Material Return

The last day of school for all underclassmen is Friday, June 11. Underclassmen final exams finish the morning of Thursday, June 10. We will have two return dates at the end of the year. Information on how to return materials is below.

Thursday, June 10 - Drop Off at Door 9/Door 11 - (11:30-2:30)

All underclassmen should return their materials and their laptops at this time. Underclassmen will drop off their laptops at Door 9/the Rock Entrance and will drive around to Door 11 to drop off all materials from this year. Underclassmen should return their materials in the red bag with the label stapled to the outside that they received in September when they picked up materials. Underclassmen may drop off items from 11:30-2:30.

Friday, June 11 - Drop Off at Door 9/Door 11 - (10:30-11:00am OR 12:00-2:30pm)

If a student is unable to return materials on 6/10, Friday, June 11 will be their last opportunity to do so. All remaining underclassmen will drop off their laptops at Door 9/the Rock Entrance and will drive around to Door 11 to drop off all materials from this year. Underclassmen should return their materials in the red bag with the label stapled to the outside that they received in September when they picked up materials. Underclassmen may drop off items from 10:30-11:00am OR 12:00-2:30pm.

Please follow the instructions below for when you come to McLean High School:

• Enter from Westmoreland Street and proceed to the Door #9/Rock entrance where there will be staff members to direct you.
• Please follow the directions of McLean HS Security and staff volunteers. 
• McLean staff will retrieve items from your car.
• Once you have returned your items at door #9, proceed as directed around the side of the building.
• Exit through Sea Cliff Dr.

**We will monitor the weather closely and will communicate any adjustments to the schedule, if necessary.**

The night before you come to McLean High School: 

•  Please fill out this Name Tag (you will need to be logged into your fcpsschools.net account to access the template). 
  • Type in your last name, first name, student ID and have it displayed in a car window.
  • Note: If you don’t have a printer, please write your own copy with the same information as the template. 

Underclassmen who do not return materials and/or laptops will be added to the obligations list and will have their computer access disabled until items are returned or paid for.
