McLean's 2024 Year in Review

This is just a small glimpse into the amazing things that happened at McLean High School in 2024!

From state championships and award-winning educators to innovative learning programs and inspiring guest speakers, Highlanders reached new heights this year. And we're just getting started! Check out the pictures below to relive some of our favorite moments from 2024!

Row 1: 

  • Students from the Class of 2024 presenting their Highlander Internship Program projects to showcase their learning.
  • McLean’s Baseball team won the State Championship over South Lakes 15 – 5!
  • Dr. Crissie Ricketts was honored at the FCPS Excellence Awards for her contributions to student achievement & success.

 Row 2: 

  • In January, we unveiled our newly renovated bathrooms!
  • Gymnastics won the Liberty District Championship.
  • Two of our students participated as Delegate Sullivan presented a bill to the Education Subcommittee to ensure anaphylaxis education for all Virginia students.

Row 3: 

  • In February, Beckie Van Vranken was named Region 2 Teacher of the Year.
  • Charles Bolden spoke to the AP African American Studies class about his experiences as a former Administrator of NASA, astronaut, and United States Marine Corps General.
  • Theatre McLean hosted a successful opening night of Sense and Sensibility.
