Congratulations to Mr. Stagliano on being recognized as the 2019 October FCPS Cares Recipient of the Month!

The McLean vs. Langley game on Friday, November 8 was chosen as ABC's Game of the Week! News crews arrived at 5:00 am Friday morning for an early-morning pep rally. The football stadium was packed for the game against Langley. It was a great way to end the football season!

At the VHSL Media Championship, we learned that all five of McLean’s publications earned a Trophy Class ranking for their 2018-19 publications from the Virginia High School League’s (VHSL) Publications Evaluation Services. Trophy Class is the highest ranking bestowed by VHSL.
McLean High School is the only school in the state to earn five Trophy Class designations this year!

Congratulations Marching Band for their performance at VMBC Dominion! 1st place in Class 5. Best Music! Best General Effect! Grand Champions with highest score overall.

The Class of 2020 put their hand prints on our stadium as a way to show their school spirit and pride.

Students in Ms. Braxton's Combating Intolerance class explore the dangers of commonly held stereotypes.

Students in USVA History presented on topics that they felt passionately about. Parents and community members were invited to participate in this share fair.

American Sign Language, a new class at McLean, is being taught by our principal, Dr. Ellen Reilly, and Mrs. Heather Bovaird. Over 100 students signed up for this class and can be seen around the school practicing the language.

Congratulations to Safety and Security Specialist Buddy Sekely, Mathematics Teacher Allison Barnes, and Music Teacher Linda Martin who were recognized at the 2019 FCPS Honors Ceremony!

During 3rd Quarter, Ms. Carroll's ceramics class hosted the "Great McLean Bakeoff" where students made desserts entirely out of clay. The final products looked good enough to eat! After completing the assignment, students in Ms. Jensen's photography classes learned about how food is staged for magazines and menus. The students each picked a clay dessert and dressed it up to make it look real! They added fresh fruits and more. Can you figure out what's clay and what's not?

The annual Mike Zook Memorial 5K was a hit! It was held the morning of Saturday, May 11 in the McLean HS stadium. Thanks to all who came out and participated!

FanFest is a Special Olympics event that allows the athletes to play a home game in front of their friends, peers, teachers and parents much like their general education peers. It is an opportunity for the athletes to demonstrate their athleticism and the opportunity for the fans to watch and cheer.
